learner will be able to:
Discuss
what is known about HIV-2 including:
1. Persons at risk for HIV-2
2. Clinical treatment of HIV-2 as compared with HIV-1
Describe:
1. The evolution of HIV/AIDS prevention programs
2. Mechanisms for transmission,
3. Treatment of HIV infection
4. HIV/AIDS and Alternative Therapies
Discuss the following risk factors and barriers to prevention of
HIV infection as related to the African American population:
1. Sexual Risk Factors
2. Lack of Awareness of HIV Serostatus
3. Substance Use
4. Sexually Transmitted Diseases
5. Denial
6. Socioeconomic Issues
Define/discuss the concept of "stigma" as it relates to
the HIV infected population.
Review both published and unpublished reports/abstracts regarding
outcomes associated with HIV Case Management.
