Course Objectives
- Define Autism Spectrum Disorders in terms of the following deficits: 1) social interaction, 2) verbal and non-verbal communication, and 3) repetitive behaviors or interests.
- Evaluate the behavioral characteristics used to make a diagnosis of ASD.
- Analyze the behaviors and ways of taking in the outside world that distinguish a person with an ASD from his/her "typical" peer.
- Discuss and integrate into practice the currently known treatments for Autism Spectrum Disorders.
- Construct questions to evaluate the degree of limitation of employees with Asperger's Syndrome and apply accommodations that are appropriate for this employee population
