Course Overview

This course will cover vaping. Vaping is not a new invention. It has been around for years and was originally touted as a means for cigarette smokers to quit smoking. It was under the radar until 2019 when the Monitoring the Future (MTF) survey conducted by the National Institute of Health demonstrated the appeal of vaping to teens. Suddenly, there was a need for much further investigation.

This course presents the history and the current status of vaping with nicotine and THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. We will discuss the multiple risks associated with both uses.

There are handouts and tools for the healthcare professional to use in their practice, especially with teens, and several case studies are also presented.

The Canadian government also released a similar study discussing their policies and that information is available in this class.
