Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP)
The Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) is a member of the
International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC), and the
most active authority for professional substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery credentialing in Michigan.

One year renewal option will discontinued effective 10/1/2018.
All credentials issued by the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals expire either two (2) or three (3) years from the date of certification. One year renewal option was discontinued as of 10/1/2018.
Individuals must complete the continuing education prior to renewal. Education must be from an approved source and related to the performance domains of the credential that he/she is renewing. Individuals who are renewing must complete sixty (60) contact hours of continuing education when holding a three (3) year certification and forty (40) contact hours of continuing education when holding a two (2) year certification.
A course may not be taken more than once within a twelve (12) month period.
Effective January 1, 2003; fifty (50%) percent of continuing education training must be specific to substance abuse. ***
***Courses that have been pre-approved by MCBAP as specific to substance abuse are designated as MCBAP (Specific). Other courses pre-approved by MCBAP as related to substance abuse are designated as MCBAP (Related).
